sir albert howard (1873-1947)

“ The health of soil, plant, animal and man is one and indivisible.”

Albert Howard was a principal figure in the early organic farming movement. He worked in India as an agriculture adviser but came to realise that traditional Indian farming practices offered a better solution to soil health than conventional farming in the UK. He was struck by the connection between healthy soil and the health of the villages, their livestock and crops.

Seen as the father of modern composting Albert Howard developed the Indore method of composting.
