Angelika and Urs Hildebrandt are soil consultants and advocates of the Lübke method, also known as Controlled Microbial Composting (CMC). This method, named after, and developed by Angelika parents, emerged in collaboration with Dr Ehrenfried Pfeiffer and stems from the teachings of Rudolf Steiner.
Today, Angelika and Urs apply these techniques to their organic farm in Austria where composting and compost teas have increased organic matter content on their farm from 2% to 15% over a ten year period.
Furthermore, following the downwind fallout from the Chernobyl nuclear reactor accident, only two farms in the region were found to have root vegetables free of radioactive contamination. One was the farm belonging to Angelika and Urs, and the other was a farm following their aerobic composting method.
Angelika and Urs continue to advise us on our own composting at The Land Gardeners, and run international workshops to share their controlled aerobic composting methods.
